Getting Started

In order to climb at Ennis Rock, all climbers need to first Register with the centre. This is free and only takes a few minutes, can be done online.

Just watch the short induction video below and then click the REGISTER TO CLIMB button below and complete your Acknowledgement of Risk form .

Once registration is complete, you will have access to a two week forward view of our booking diary, where you can pick the day and climbing slot that suits you. Book your slot, pay and that's it, just turn up 15mins before your session starts.

Bouldering is super easy to get started with — you don't need any prior climbing experience. All you’ll need is a pair of climbing shoes, which you can hire at the centre.

If you have never visited Ennis Rock before, your first booked session will include a compulsory 15-20 minute Induction.

While bouldering is a fun and challenging activity where you climb shorter walls without ropes or harnesses, and relying on mats for protection, the risk of injury is always there, so safety always comes first.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) Participation Statement says that: 

"The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions."

All climbers visiting Ennis Rock for the first time need to complete an induction session.

This applies even if you are an avid climber or have climbed at other venues before. The purpose of this session is to provide you with a good understanding of  the do's and don'ts and terms of use for our centre which may not be the same as other venues.  

Once completed all future climbing sessions can be booked online as Pay As You go sessions. **(Supervision T&Cs apply)

The session is delivered as part of your first climbing session in a small group with a member of staff to talk you through the essentials you need to know to ensure your future climbing sessions are fun but more importantly safe for you and all other climbers around you, this will take about 15-20mins. (less if you are already an experienced climber).

Then we let you loose to climb for the rest of the session.  18+ independently, and under 18yr with *parent/responsible adult* supervision

*A responsible adult must be 18+ and already registered with the centre .

Climbing shoe hire is available for those that don't have their own and is included in the induction session for free. (Usually £2.00 additional fee on any other standard session).
